Happy Friday! Once again, I'm borrowing this idea from another blog, but I thought it'd be fun to share some of my favorite things from the week today.
We had a fun trip to Cloudland Canyon on Sunday! We look forward to this every year, and we had a great time. The boys love hiking, and even though it's a lot of work with 3 small children, it's always worth it!
I've been reading some awesome books lately, and it just so happens that the vast majority of them are children's/adolescent books. My absolute favorite class in college was Adolescent Literature, even though I wasn't planning on teaching reading and writing at that point. In that class we had to read one children's chapter book each week, and I loved those stories. Like I've mentioned in a few of my "Recent Reads" posts, our wonderful school librarian has made me a list of children's books to read, and I'm flying through them. Now, when I say children's books, I mean they're typically geared for 4th graders and up, but they're awesome. I'm reading Pictures of Hollis Woods now, and it's great so far.
We're one week away from fall break! Even though it's not here yet, I've been excited about it all week. Next Friday I'm taking off to go on a field trip with Clark, so I've only got 4 days of work next week! The kids have Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off of the following week, and I have Monday and Tuesday off. Like I said earlier this week, I'd like to do something fun, but I'm having a hard time figuring something out.
I bought this shirt last winter at Southern Charm, and it's one of my favorite fall/winter shirts. I love a good oversized shirt. They have it in green and red this year, and I was going to order a green, but they didn't have my size. I went to the Lytle Barn today to do a little shopping, and I spent much more than I had planned on. My winter wardrobe typically consists of cardigans and long shirts underneath, so I tried to add some variety to it today.
I'm really liking Gilmore Girls so far and have watched a few episodes this week. My next episode to watch is episode 7, and it's nice and light, so I'm glad it's not a sad show. I'm also trying to knock out season 1 of This is Us, but I can only handle so much of that at a time. It always makes me sad.
I have a feeling Disney World is going to be one of my favorite places ever, so I'm including that today! This is just a tiny portion of our plans, but I'm excited about these two meals. The boys are getting really excited, and every movie we watch they ask if we're going to meet those characters. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite movie, which takes me to my next favorite.
When I was younger, The Little Mermaid was my absolute favorite Disney movie, but as I've gotten older, it's Beauty and the Beast now. I took the big boys to see the real Beauty and the Beast back in the spring, but Andy still hasn't seen it. Now that it's on Netflix, I'm making him have an in-home date night with me this weekend to watch it.
My big boys and their school behavior is definitely a favorite this week! In the month of September, and all school year actually, they've been on green or better! They haven't had to move their color down any, and nobody is more surprised than me! I'm not saying they're mean or have bad behavior, but they are typical, wild little boys. I'm very proud of how hard they're working! I can't leave out little Abel though... he's as wild as ever and is talking up a storm. He keeps us on our toes and laughs hysterically about all the mischievous things he does. We're taking them tomorrow to Old McDonald's Farm tomorrow as a reward, so that should be fun.
Have a happy weekend!
