Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!  I think every teacher I know would agree with me in saying that Halloween and the day after should be declared school holidays.  It's always insane at school, but I've come to expect that.  I love Halloween, but it'd be nice if it was declared to be the last Saturday of October, like Thanksgiving is the 4th Thursday of November.

Anyways, we had a fun Halloween.  Clark had a party at school that he got to dress up for, and I was able to sneak down and enjoy it with him.  Once we got home, we made some desserts, soup, and chili, then our neighbors and my parents came over to eat and trick or treat.  Abel was OVER his dragon costume, so I put him in his skeleton pajamas and called it a costume.  Clark was about over his costume too, so he didn't even wear the headpiece the majority of the night.  Cooper was still going strong as Captain Underpants though, and he ran all over the neighborhood.  We were done by 7:30 and had the boys bathed and in bed by 8:15, so I call that a success!

Happy Halloween!

Trunk or Treat 2017

Last night we celebrated Halloween early with our annual trip to the Trunk or Treat right down the street from our house.  The boys look forward to this ever year, and it was actually cold enough to enjoy it this year.  Cooper was Captain Underpants, Clark was Lego Ninjago, and Abel was a scary dragon.  He wasn't very into it at first, but we put him in a wagon and Andy continuously fed him candy as we walked, so he was happy as a lark.  Clark loved all the candy, but his favorite was the hayride on a big John Deere tractor.  Cooper isn't a candy fan, but he loved running around and seeing his friends.  Everyone was really cold by the time we left, so it didn't take much convincing to pack the boys up.  I think they'll be over dressing up by the time Halloween rolls around on Tuesday!

Fall Bucket List Update

Happy almost Halloween!  There temperature is a crisp 39° here in Flintstone right now, so it's feeling more like Christmas than Halloween.  We've managed to knock everything off of our fall bucket list, and just in time because I've got the Christmas one lined up and ready to go!  We won't officially trick or treat until Tuesday, but the boys did a trunk or treat Thursday (with another one tonight), so I'm counting that!  I also haven't done "official" fall photos yet because I've been waiting on all of Abel's hand, foot, and mouth spots to clear up, but I got some good ones of them individually and together at the corn maze a few weeks ago.  I'm hoping to do some this week though.  We made a Thankful Pumpkin this week, and Cooper got so into it!  It was sweet to see everything he said he was thankful for.  I know we've still got a lot of fall ahead of us, but bring on the holidays!

    Friday Favorites {10/27/17}

    Happy Friday!  I'm still writing from my pajamas at home today.  I'm on sick day #3 from the flu, but I'm praying I'll be back to almost normal by Sunday or so.  This mommy doesn't have time to be sick, especially this close to Halloween!
    This past weekend we had our church's annual Down on the Farm event, and the boys loved it!  Our former church secretary owns The Barn at High Point Farms, and she's kind enough to open it up to use every fall.  There are goats to play with, horses to ride, good food to eat, bonfires, s'mores, friends, family, and the boys favorite, a hayride on a John Deere tractor.  Clark cried when we left and said he wished we could live there.  I do, too!
     Last Saturday we ate dinner at Chili's downtown and took the boys to the Walnut Street Bridge.  They love walking/running across the bridge, but the older I get, the more nervous it makes me.  I wouldn't be nervous if I didn't have 3 wild boys up there with me, but you never know if one of them is going to try and climb the rails or something.  Despite mine and Andy's nerves, it was the perfect night for it and the boys had a lot of fun.
     Last night Cooper had trunk-or-treat at our school and Clark had his fall festival at his.  I cried when I found out I had the flu because I knew I wouldn't be able to go.  This was the first thing like this I've ever missed, so I was pretty upset.  Andy took them though and my parents met them there, so they had a big time and plenty of attention.  Cooper was Captain Underpants (his own idea- I just ordered the skin suit to make it happen), and Clark was Lego Ninjago.  These were two of the easiest costumes we've had yet!  According to Andy and my parents, Cooper's outfit was the hit of the night! It was pretty hilarious!  Thankfully we've got a trunk-or-treat event on Sunday and trick or treating on Tuesday, so Abel and I will get some chances to join in.
    This little sweetie has been the best company while I've been sick.  Thankfully my mom has helped a ton and has taken him off my hands some so I can rest, but he's a great cuddle buddy.  We've watched LOTS of Curious George and he hasn't complained at all that I can't do much.  He's been in my face all week, so I'm praying he doesn't get it.  Like I said, Andy's the only one who's had his flu shot so far, so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.  I'm taking the boys next week to get theirs (and I'll get one then too to keep my from getting type A), but I just hope we're not too late!
    I made this dessert last Friday for mine and Andy's in-home movie date night, and it was delicious!  The hardest part was the Oreo crust, but Andy said it's the best dessert I've ever made.  If you're not typically a cheesecake maker, don't let it intimidate you!  I only make regular cheesecake (and not often at that), and it was very straightforward and easy.  We found that it was better after it had sat in the fridge for the night too.  I need to keep myself from making it in the future because I ate WAY too much of it.
    It was my night to pick the movie last week, so I started out with Room.  Well, about 10 minutes in we decided we weren't in the mood for something that intense, so we watched The Age of Adaline.  I had seen it, so I knew what happened, but Andy predicted EVERYTHING!  It was a bit ridiculous and a bit frustrating.  It's his turn to pick tonight, so we'll see how that goes!
    Last Saturday I met one of my favorite authors, Natalie Lloyd, and she was so sweet and easy to talk to!  My favorite book of hers is The Key to Extraordinary and it's already signed, so she signed my second favorite, A Snicker of Magic.  If you haven't read them, go out and get them both now!  They are amazing!

    Andy and the boys worked really hard this week to build Bear a doghouse.  When we're at work or gone in the evenings, Bear spends his time out in our backyard.  It's a good size and fenced in, but since it's getting colder, we wanted him to have some shelter.  He's still not 100% sure about his house, but I'm sure he'll grow to love it!  The boys painted the finished product gray and it has cute shingles on the roof, so it looks really good.
    The fall weather has finally arrived in Chattanooga!  A few days this week is was cold!  It looks like it's going to be cold when we trunk-or-treat Sunday, so the boys won't roast in their costumes.  Once November 1st rolls around, I'm ready for all things Thanksgiving and Christmas, so I hope the warm air stays away for good!
